Discussion: Five Ways to Keep from Being Wrong

Glad you made it! I can’t wait to hear what song you chose and what you think of it.

Just to help keep the creative juices flowing, I’ve copied down the “homework” part of the email I sent you.

Your Turn:  What do you think of the five tips? Can you add another one to them? How do you keep from being wrong?

Homework: Take a song you've been listening to (I suggest "Carry on Wayward Son"), and explain it. For my example, everyone knows the chorus to "Carry on Wayward Son," but few know the rest of the song. How does the music help the meaning? What do the verses add to the meaning? What do others say about the song and what do you think about it once you read the lyrics?

NOW ANALYZE! In the comment area below, mention your song and tell us what you learned about it. You and your findings may get featured in an email or a podcast in the future!

I can't wait to talk to you there and to see what you found, and I hope you're looking forward to tomorrow's lesson about making meaning out of nothing! We're going to talk about "Cheerleader" by OMI and how we can find the deeper meanings in a song we're not sure means anything at all.

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,

Clifford Stumme
